Did you know that there is a huge industry for baby and toddler porn on the internet? Did you know that law enforcement has the ability to track these web viewings and save all these children? Would you be shocked to know that currently only 2% of these predators and rapist are being tracked? This is because of low funding for the program and for the man power to find these criminals. The statics would blow your mind, they did mine (you can read a few below in the sample letter). I am not writing this today to tell you how horrible this situation has gotten (though you should educated yourself) but I want to tell you how you can make a change and help rescue these children.
In just a few days the senate will vote on Bill 1738 the PROTECT OUR CHILDREN ACT. We need to write our senators so let them now that we demand their support of this bill. Please take a few minutes of your time to go to this website www.senate.gov
and find your senators information and send them a letter and an e-mail. You have to do this NOW because it goes before senate next week!
Here is a sample letter that I got off the internet in regards to this bill. Use it or write your own!
Dear Senator:
I know that you believe, like I do, that we must do everything possible to protect children from sexual predators. That is why I am asking for your help. Last year alone, U.S. law enforcement identified over 300,000 criminals who were trafficking in movies and pictures of young children being raped and tortured. Experts say that one in every three of these criminals has local child victims. Child pornography trafficking over the Internet has given us a trail of evidence that leads straight to their doorsteps, but the vast majority of these children will never be rescued because investigators are overwhelmed, outnumbered and underfunded. As your constituent, I urge you to do everything in your power to pass the PROTECT Our Children Act (S. 1738, Biden-Hatch). This bipartisan legislation passed the House 415-2, but it is now the victim of petty partisan politics. Now that we know where these children are and how to protect them, there is no excuse for the Senate to fail to take action this session.
