Your voice!!

Thank you everyone who wrote letters, made calls, or sent e-mails!! Bill 1738 was passed last Thursday, this was the bill to help improve and expand the protection for children against sexual crimes here in the US.
One of my favorite artist Alanis Morissette recently wrote a song titled underneath in which she really challenges the view we have about making change. She calls attention to the fact that we are so aware of the huge issues that we fail to recognize that our world issues are a result of issues accruing in our own hearts and homes. Take our economic situation as a case in point. We all want to complain about the issue but most of us are responsible… do you have debt? Then you are part of the cause (think I am crazy then e-mail me and I will explain)! In Alanis’s song she talks about making a change with in the heart and that in effect will change the world.
So many people feel as if they are that tiny spec on a flower that only an elephant like Horton could hear. Can you imagine if Max had not shouted for Horton or if Horton had heard but chose to do nothing? That is what I think us as individuals often fall self-victim to. We feel like one small voice that can not accomplish anything. If the only think we change in the process is our own heart then the efforts were well worth it.
So you might me asking why I am going on about all this so I will make my two points very clear.
1. Thank you to all of those that used your “small” voice to work as one large force to get bill 1738 passed!
2. For all of you over 18 you only have a few days left to register to vote for the elections in November. There are many brave men and women risking their life’s to give you the right to choose this country’s future. Want to show them that you appreciate them? Then get educated and then GO VOTE!!! I will not give you my political advice but if you want my opinion, and I promise I have one, you can e-mail at breannewood@bellsouth.net and I will be glad to fill you in!

You can register at http://www.rockthevote.org/

There is no difference in what we're doing in here
That doesn't show up as bigger symptoms out there
So why spend all our time in dressing our bandages
When we've the ultimate key to the cause right here, our underneath
Alanis Morissette
