My kids love to be outdoors so I guess it would be normal for them to hate it when it rains, right? Wrong, they LOVE it. When the sky becomes cloudy and the cool wind comes in my girls start hoping for rain. They listen carefully to be sure there is no lighting and if the coast is clear then out we go. Running, jumping, spinning, splashing, and singing in the rain. The harder it rains the more fun it is. I am usually right there with them. I like it as much as they do and I often catch them watching me an amazement.
I fell in love with the rain while running cross country in high school. I had this crazy coach who trained us so hard that she made us run rain or shine. I lived in FL then, and we ran at 3PM so it was really hot and the rain was a wonderful treat... it was when it stopped that really sucked. Now when I play with my girls in the rain not only am I enjoying the moment but I also get to experience some old memories too.
Not long ago, Bryn and I had just finished shopping and headed to the door where we shall a large crowd hanging out. As we got closer I realized that they where all standing there because it was pouring outside. I could not help but think how much fun it would be to walk out and get soaked in that rain so I tied up my bags and headed through the crowd. When I got to the door a man stopped me and said, "this one is moving fast it should pass any moment." I just looked and him, smiled and said, "well I better hurry me and my daughter don't want to miss out." He looked at me like I was crazy as we walked out the door taking our time and laughing our butts off as we got soaked in the first few steps. The rain is too much fun!
This one is to my friends and family in FL who are getting so MUCH rain... go play, have fun... and do a rain dance for me!
